CD and DVD Encryption Services

Data encryption service is a process that converts sensitive or confidential information into unintelligible gibberish.  Often used by government, legal and medical accounts, encrypted data helps protect names, social security numbers and other important information from getting in the wrong hands. A code or key is used to encrypt and decrypt the information.

There are various levels or degrees of encryption. Each level is deemed to be more secure than the previous encryption level.

DES, Data Encryption Standard: 56-bit key is now considered to small and insecure for many applications.

AES, Advanced Encryption Standard; with a key size of 128, 192 or 256 bits, has been adopted as the encryption standard by the US Government.  This encryption standard is used for Top Secret Material, the highest classification of material.

FIPS 140-2, Federal Information Processing Standard is a US Government security standard used to accredit cryptographic modules. The cryptographic modules are usually produced by private companies for use in US Government contracts and other customers such as financial and health care.

Micrographics Equipment Services Inc. provides certified FIPS 140-2 computer output to CD/DVD.   CD/DVD encryption available upon request.  E-mail for more details on this service.
